| In 2003, the Vestry of the All Saints Anglican Church created the Social Outreach Committee (SOC), in acknowledgement of a desire to become more responsive to the needs of the parishioners. The mandate of the Committee is to provide holistic support for parishioners, by meeting, where possible, their needs of body, mind and spirit. Seven areas of need were identified, but is was decided to begin to minister in the four areas of most urgent need i.e. the Sick and Shut-In, the Youth, the Compassionate, and the Distressed. Each of these areas of involvement seeks to minister to specific needs within the all Saints community and is facilitated by a team of volunteers. The Compassionate ministry assists parishioners in meeting their basic material needs. A major activity is the distribution of food boxes, clothing, and other items such as toiletries to those in need. The congregation donates these items on a weekly basis. The ministry to the Sick and Shut-in ensures that parishioners who are sick or unable to come to church anymore recognize that they still belong to the community of All Saints. This is done through visits to each person on the list on a monthly basis, generally to chat or provide some personal assistance, in cases where that may be required. The ministry to the Distressed seeks to comfort and support parishioners in times of distress, whether caused by illness, relationships, death, or stress. Finding a facilitator for the ministry to the Youth is a work in progress. Mention must also be made of the service provided by our small but trusty band of Ushers who try to ensure that newcomers to the church feel welcome and that all persons can follow the service comfortably. The work of outreach in All Saints church provides an opportunity for all parishioners to answer Jesus Christ's call to servant leadership and to utilise their God-given gifts.
