All Saints’ Sunday School
The Sunday School is the branch of the Junior Church which helps to develop our
children’s knowledge and understanding of God and the Church.

The children are divided into age groups: 3-5 years old, 6-8 years old, 9-11 years old,
and then they are prepared for Confirmation from age 11+.  They then spend another
year or two in Post-Confirmation.  All the teachers are volunteers who teach using
Bible stories, games, craft projects, and drama.

Formal classes are held on Sunday mornings at Maraval’s Chapel of Ease (8.30am)
and Marli Street (7.30am) with the term being held from the first Sunday after regular
school opens and closing on the Sunday after schools close.
The Sunday School also hosts a bi-annual Sports Day and Christmas concert and
last year we hosted our first Easter Egg Hunt for children aged up to 9 years old and
a Treasure Hunt for the older children, as well as our first Easter Bonnet and Cap
Parade with all the hats and caps being decorated by the children on Palm Sunday
morning.

As part of their training for service to God within the Church, the children aged 8 and
upward also participate in the fourth Sunday services, whether by reading one of the
lessons or picking up the collection.  The older children who are being prepared for
Confirmation or those who are already confirmed are encouraged to join the senior
youth group, choir and servers’ guild.

As with everything else, we are trying to update our teaching methods using DVDs,
video tapes and modern teaching methods, but extra help is always welcome.
