| Vision Day I |
| The Process Begins - NOVEMBER 26 2005 The theme for our Vision Day was ‘Connecting and Reconnecting to Faith’. Some sixty-six parishioners, together with Canon Berkley and Fr Williams, assembled in the bright and cheerful conference room at the ALGICO Plaza. Our facilitator for the day was Miles Baker, a very dynamic and engaging gentleman, who is clearly experienced in the difficult business of change management. After opening prayers and an ice-breaker, there was an exercise designed to gather some impressions of ourselves and we were then challenged to turn all the negatives into positive statements, being sure that we understand why each positive represents a better situation and how we, individually and collectively, can effect that change. For example: 1. Our membership is equally divided between male and female 2. All ages groups are fully represented 3. We employ a range of communication methods to ensure that no-one is without information about what is happening in our Church. Our next activity was concerned with ‘creating the future’, based on the premise that, if we don’t know what we want to be, we will never be able to make any changes. We were divided into three groups, each with two or three leaders, to present a vision of All Saints parish in 2010, under these headings: 1. Vocational activity 2. Community involvement 3. Spiritual development The presentations were lively, very creative and they spoke volumes of the perceptiveness, spirituality and talent at All Saints. Clearly, the way ahead must consist of 1. Communicating the Vision to the Church 2. Keeping the Vision alive 3. Creating an Action Plan to prioritise, to strategise, to develop tactics and time-lines and to communicate progress 4. Implementing the plan 5. Celebrating the successes – the milestones en route to achieving Vision 2010, as they are reached. |
